October is National Safe Work Month, a time to reflect on challenges that have changed the way we work and inspire us to keep finding safer and more efficient ways to operate.
The addition of large-scale self-cleaning screens to the AWMA product range required a new approach to safe work handling methods. This screen diffuser and frame assembly weighs in excess of 2 tonnes, is over 2 metres in height and 8 metres in length. AWMA’s in-house engineering and design team set to develop a ‘Screen Rotator’. The rotator is fully electric and designed to safely rotate the assemblies. Through the use of engineering techniques, AWMA were able to eliminate many of the hazards that are inherent with any lifting activity, to provide a safe system of work for our employees to manufacture, test and inspect these products.
