AWMA’s TLF Penstock range consists of an undershot gate with a full perimeter seal, providing flow isolation for fully submerged on or off seating applications.
FEATURES
- Resilient seals around all four sides of the aperture.
- Excellent sealing for medium head applications.
- Suitable for flow regulation applications.
- Seals are bi-directional as standard.
- Both rising and non-rising spindle configurations available.
- Frame customised to suit application.
APPLICATIONS
- Full perimeter seal provides excellent sealing performance for applications across all industry sectors.
- Isolation of pipe openings and orifices over 300mm in diameter.
SIZES
- AWMA offer a range of standard size TLF penstocks to suit typical pipe and culvert openings.
- If required, AWMA can provide a customised solution for non-standard applications.
MATERIALS
- AWMA TLF penstocks are typically manufactured from marine grade aluminium or stainless steel (grades 304, 316, 2205 or 2507).
- Material selection is discussed with clients to determine the most appropriate material for the application.
- Seals are mechanically fastened (non-adhesive) and are designed for ease of replacement.
- AWMA utilise plasticised PVC and/or EPDM seals due to their superior performance in a range of environments including stormwater, wastewater and sea water.
- Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is used for TLF penstock guides and seal retainers. UHMWPE is a hard wearing, low friction material that is ideal for bearing surfaces and the prevention of metal-metal sliding contact or the isolation of dissimilar metals.
SEALING
- AWMA TLF Penstock seal performance meets or exceeds that nominated in the Australian Technical Specification for Fabricated Water Control Infrastructure, BS 7775 and AWWA C561.
MANUFACTURE
- All AWMA products meet relevant Australian and international standards.
- All fabrication is in accordance with the ‘Australian Technical Specification for Fabricated Water Control Infrastructure’.
- All stainless steel welding is continuous to avoid crevice corrosion.
- AWMA hold international accreditations for ISO 9001; Quality, ISO 14001; Environment and ISO 45001 OH&S management.
- AWMA’s Integrated Management System aims to provide a framework to deliver products and services that consistently exceed customer expectations.

MAINTENANCE
- AWMA use ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) for penstock door guides and/or wedges to provide maintenance free bearing surfaces.
- AWMA TLF penstocks are designed to be effectively “maintenance free”, offering a very low “whole of life cost”.
- Should seals be damaged, they are designed for ease of replacement in situ.
