About the Role:
As a Detail Draftsperson at AWMA, you’ll play a vital role in bringing our engineered solutions to life. Working closely with our product designers, project engineers, and project managers, you will convert 3D models into highly detailed 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
These drawings are essential to ordering and fabricating the world-class mechanical products that support AWMA’s water control infrastructure across Australia and internationally. Your precision and technical skill will directly contribute to the successful delivery of innovative water solutions for a wide range of projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that 2D detail drawings are produced in accordance with AWMA’s quality guidelines.
- Strive for accurate and timely submission of drafting milestones for the “Draft” and “For Construction” stages.
- Provide accurate and clear drawings, DXFs, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support procurement and production.
- Liaise with Designers, Project Engineers and Project Managers to ensure technical clarity and the best project outcomes.
- Support factory teams by resolving drawing-related queries and ensuring manufacturability.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement of AWMA’s drafting standards and processes.
Key Selection Criteria

The Position:
As a Project Manager at AWMA, you will manage a portfolio of projects, ensuring successful delivery in accordance with our Integrated Management System (IMS). You will collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, contractors, and clients to meet project goals. This role demands a hands-on approach to managing project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, and maintaining excellent client relationships.
As you will be working on fully customised products for each project, there will be a high-level of stakeholder management required for this role, so strong attention to detail and communication skills are a must. Importantly, AWMA is looking for a personable team player who will work well within the existing team and collaborate as required to get the best results for clients.
Responsibilities:
- Be the main point of contact for all internal and external enquiries for the projects being managed.
- Take ownership of allocated projects, ensuring detailed understanding of client requirements, costings, timelines, and contractual obligations.
- Negotiate with customers, contractors, engineering consultants to ensure successful manufacture and application of product.
- Allocate timelines to the internal designers to ensure all engineering and design requirements are satisfied as per project specifications.
- Work with internal procurement, factory, store, and admin team to ensure material for jobs arrive on time for manufacture.
- Keep track of the projects in each stage & provide reportings to customers accordingly.
- Support completion of solutions to ensure successful delivery of the project.
- Oversee project installations and collaborate with AWMA’s installation contractors.
- Deliver projects within budget and deadlines, while meeting quality and safety standards.
- Provide post-project reports on costs, timelines, and resource allocations to identify improvement opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Must have 3+ years in a PM or similar role
- Strong experience in manufacture background.
- Mechanical background, qualification in mechanical field will be highly regarded.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skill..
- Strong time management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadline.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the manufacturing industry would be an advantage.
- Strong customer service focus
Some travel will be required as part of this role and a current driver’s license is essential. As a project-based business, this role involves negotiating and advising on multiple contracts simultaneously at a fast pace, with high attention to detail. The approximate range of contract values will be between $50k and $10 million.
Some travel may be required for the role to visit sites and meetings. It would be highly advantageous is you are familiar with manufacturing processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Contract Negotiation: Review, revise and negotiate contracts to ensure alignment with project requirements, budget constraints, and company policies.
Contract Administration: Maintain a centralised contract management system to track statuses and deliverables, monitor compliance, and facilitate modifications as needed.
Risk Management and Compliance: Assess and mitigate contract risks through analysis and proactive measures, ensure compliance with legal and industry standards, and implement effective risk management strategies.
Stakeholder Communication and Advice: Serve as the primary point of contact for all contract-related inquiries, providing clear and proactive communication to internal and external stakeholders. Advise project teams, management, and other departments on contractual obligations, compliance issues, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring informed decision-making throughout the contract lifecycle.
Performance Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor contract performance metrics, prepare reports on status and financial implications, and conduct audits to identify improvements and efficiency gains.

About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Contract Management, Legal Studies, or a related field. A master’s degree or certification in Contract Management is preferred.
