AWMA is looking for a professional, organised and savvy Business Support Coordinator who will play a vital role in supporting the smooth operation of key business functions across our organisation.

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, this is a true generalist role with plenty of variety and engagement, suited to someone who has a can-do attitude, works well with people at all levels and takes pride in doing things to a high standard.

You will become an important go-to person across different areas of the business. Extensive on-the-job training will be provided to ensure the successful candidate is well supported and set up for success in the role.

What will you be doing?

  • Providing day-to-day business support to managers and teams, including executive support to the Managing Director as required.
  • Supporting the People & Culture team with training, onboarding, employee engagement, internal and external cultural activities and events.
  • Coordinating and booking staff travel, maintaining uniforms, workplace supplies and shared office equipment, spaces to ensure things are presentable and run smoothly.
  • Managing company-rented properties, including liaison with real estate agents, property owners, employees and the Finance team.
  • Maintaining records and systems within your area and looking for ways to improve efficiency and how work is coordinated.
  • Providing hands-on assistance with activities, projects and tasks across different areas of the business when required.
  • Providing assistance for IT when required and helping maintain organised workspaces and equipment.
  • Being the first point of contact for reception, visitors, incoming calls, deliveries and general enquiries.
  • Following direction and actions through, while using initiative to identify things that require attention.

 

Who are we looking for?

 You will be someone who:

You may have 2 to 5 years’ experience in administration, office coordination, executive support, P&C support, reception or another generalist role. More important is that you're confident, adaptable, willing to learn and comfortable supporting different areas of a business.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Remote

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer works independently to deliver engineered designs in line with project scope and production deadlines.  

With strong SolidWorks capability and a deep understanding of mechanical engineering first principles, this role ensures AWMA products are produced to a high standard of quality, functionality, and manufacturability. 

This role supports the wider Engineering and Design team acting sometimes as the technical authority for the product.  

This role requires occasional travel to head office, located in Cohuna, Victoria (approximately 3 hours north of Melbourne).

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Interpret project briefs and client data sheets to independently size and specify product configurations. 
  • Apply mechanical engineering principles to determine governing load cases, relevant standards, and key failure modes. 
  • Identify when designs fall outside standard parameters and adapt solutions as required. 
  • Develop the engineering basis for designs, supporting General Arrangements (GA) and overall product configuration. 
  • Produce high-quality technical submittals suitable for client and third-party review. 
  • Respond to routine technical queries from clients, contractors, or internal stakeholders. 
  • Independently produce complete drawing packages, including General Arrangements, fabrication drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM). 
  • Ensure designs consider tolerances, manufacturability, and interfaces with civil and structural elements. 
  • Review and validate design outputs, identifying inconsistencies or risks and addressing them proactively. 
  • Deliver work that meets quality expectations and typically passes design and engineering checks with minimal revisions. 
  • Participate in engineering reviews and constructability reviews. 

  

About you: 

You will be a Mechanical Design Engineer Professional who has worked in a customised product and project delivery space for at least 5 years. You will bring: 

  • Extensive experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, R&D background will be highly desirable 
  • Advanced SolidWorks 3d Modelling and Drafting Skills 
  • Strong capability in mechanical engineering first principles 
  • Significant experience in product design, development, or manufacturing environments 
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical capability 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld stainless steel sheet, plate and pipe across varying thicknesses.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to set up materials and fabricate components to specification.
  • Perform high-quality MIG welding and operate a range of fabrication equipment.
  • Adjust machine settings and techniques to suit different materials and conditions, with a strong understanding of the heat-affected zone.
  • Accurately align and clamp components using measuring tools like callipers and rulers.
  • Conduct inspections of welds and joints to ensure they meet technical and safety requirements.
  • Follow AWMA’s strict health and safety procedures, maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.
  • Work independently while upholding high standards of quality and efficiency.

About You

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Boilermaker or Metal Fabricator in a similar environment.
  • Proficient in MIG and ARC welding, with strong technical capability.
  • Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Skilled with fabrication equipment, hand and power tools, and metal cutting machinery.
  • Safety-focused, reliable, and able to take direction when required.
