AWMA Water Control Gates Installed during Major Wastewater Infrastructure Upgrade for Adelaide’s Growing Population
SA Water’s upgrade of its largest wastewater treatment facility has reached a significant milestone as its new inlet becomes operational, marking the “first flush” through what’s been affectionately dubbed Bolivar’s new poo gates.
The new and larger inlet more than doubles the Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant’s existing processing capacity, enabling it to receive up to 630 million litres of sewage every day. This important upgrade supports Adelaide’s growing population and new housing developments, ensuring the system can meet the needs of the community into the future.
AWMA was engaged by Fulton Hogan to supply precision-engineered penstocks and stoplogs for the inlet’s mechanical systems. These custom-built control structures enable safe isolation, diversion, and flow regulation within the upgraded system.
Each component was manufactured from duplex 2205 or 316 stainless steel to withstand the highly corrosive wastewater environment and provide long-term durability.
AWMA is proud to have supported SA Water and Fulton Hogan in delivering this critical upgrade – supplying custom-engineered water control solutions built to perform reliably in the toughest wastewater environments.
