Submersible Irrigation Pump Screens for Murray River Intakes

Irrigators who manage irrigation suction pumps from river systems are seeking fish screens to reduce infrastructure damage.

Existing screens often get blocked or 'suck' fish and small debris into pump pipelines and infrastructure.

Many traditional steel and poly intake screens are being replaced with Self-Cleaning Cylinder Screens.

AWMA's self-cleaning screen design ensures the stainless steel wedge wire screen surface remains free of debris for optimal flow capacity.

The low-velocity operation ensures the ‘area of influence’ around the screen is minimal and therefore it does not draw debris, trash or fish onto or through the screen surface. This makes the screen effective, fish friendly and easy to keep clean.

River Intake Systems often operate on steep embankments. AWMA offer numerous retrieval systems for self-cleaning screen solutions.  The latest innovative design is AWMA's Submersible Pontoon. This solution mounts a cylindrical wedge wire screen on a submersible dual pontoon system. The pontoon raises and lowers the intake screen from the riverbed to the water surface should inspection or maintenance be required.

Brush-cleaned cylinder screens are designed and manufactured by AWMA under a licensing agreement with Intake Screens, Inc.
