A custom designed AWMA Multi-Bay LayFlat Gate ensures all protruding components are collapsible, removable or encapsulated to limit debris entrapment during flood events.
State Water’s Wakool Regulator was replaced as the original structure was in a state of disrepair. Being in a flood prone area, the design criteria for the new water regulation structure specified the protection of the asset from damage caused by raising water levels and floating debris.
The new 4in1 MultiBay LayFlat Gate is 4.7m deep, 12m wide and over 3m high. It complies with OH&S requirements and provides better operational control and operator safety.
The LayFlat’s electrical components are connected to a tamper-proof cabinet containing hydraulic controls complete with isolation options. Operation is available via AWMA’s portable petrol powered Hydraulic Power Pack (HPP). The HPP reduces the need for expensive infrastructure to be permanently exposed on site.
The hydraulic cylinders have been fully encased in the central piers, the handrails are completely collapsible and access platform removable. In the event of storms and floods, the asset can be protected from water and debris damage.
