Penstocks for Melbourne Water Fishway at Dights Falls

June 16, 2016 by

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Two stainless steel TLF Penstocks have been designed, manufactured and installed for Melbourne Water’s Dights Falls Weir Replacement and Fishway Project.

The TLF penstocks are required to isolate the fishway during maintenance or emergency shutdown. Located in a public area the gates feature lockable covers with non-rising spindles for manual operation via extension handles.

The Dights Falls Weir and fishway is located in Abbotsford, Victoria. The fishway will open up the Yarra and its tributaries to many species of migratory fish whose upstream passage has been restricted by Dights Falls for decades.

AWMA were engaged by Fulton Hogan for the project delivered by the Waterways Alliance on behalf of Melbourne Water. The Waterways Alliance is a partnership between Ecodynamics, Fulton Hogan, SMEC and Melbourne Water created to deliver a five year $75 million program to improve stormwater quality and the health of Melbourne’s rivers and creeks.
