Pump Intake Cylinder Screen, Cowra NSW

May 12, 2020 by

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Irrigators near Cowra NSW, utilised a course poly screen to facilitate fish protection and decrease the amount of bulk debris getting through to their pump station and into irrigation spray nozzles. However smaller debris such as gum nuts, leaves, twigs, silt and aquatic life created ongoing operational issues.

The poly intake screen has since been upgraded to a stainless steel AWMA Pump Intake Cylinder Screen.

AWMA’s Cylinder Screen is designed to ensure fish protection as well as pump and downstream irrigation infrastructure protection.

The Cylinder Screen is manufactured from a stainless steel wedge wire screen medium with an innovative dual brush cleaning system. The design is well proven and customised for Australian conditions.

The self-propelled operation allows the self-cleaning functionality to operate whenever the flow reaches a preset velocity.

The screen was retrofitted to an existing track system.

Local Land Services assisted irrigators with funding that was made available to promote fish protection as well as on-farm operational benefits.

Brush-cleaned cylinder screens are designed and manufactured by AWMA under a licensing agreement with Intake Screens, Inc.
