Civil Team Engineering engaged AWMA to design, manufacture and install water control structures for State Water’s Yallakool Creek Weir and Fishway.
The weir will be upgraded with five AWMA LayFlat Gates, allowing almost 2.5m of clear water between each pylon. An AWMA ULF undershot penstock will control the new fishway exit.
The weir refurbishment works and new fishway are valued at $3.5 million and include solar powered automation for operation via the State Water SCADA system.
Civil Team Engineering Project Manager Steve Briggs said “I’m happy to say that the AWMA staff were very helpful, cooperative and professional on the project, which because of the flooding was quite a challenge for our company. It made my job much easier being able to rely on the timely and efficiently executed work, both from a workmanship and administrative point of view.”
